The Abdominals
compose of your entire midsection and contribute to the health and
integrity of your lower back and abdomen. There are many muscles located in
the abdominal region that allow the you to twist your torso in
relation to your hips, bend forward to flex your torso at the waist, bend
directly to either side, or combinations of these three types of
movements.
The rectus abdominis is the
large, flat muscle wall covering almost the entire abdomen. At the sides
of your waist is a complex muscle group called the external obliques -
consisting of the group internal, transverse and external obliques.
Running diagonally down the
sides of the upper part of the midsection are the intercostals. |
