Below we asked three
trainers their views and opinions from the following
supplements Udo's Choice, SAN's Lipidex and Prolab CLA. These people have been training and using sport
supplements for over two years.
| Question |
Before
us we have a selection of the most popular used fats
and oils
supplements, that you have all tried and used and you wish to share with
us your views and opinions. Amazingly
there seems to be more choice when it comes t fats than any other product
these days. More so even than the many various protein types you can get
your hands on. What are all these oils we keep hearing about in your
opinion and are they of any use?
|
| Answer |
Brian
- Good question. I used to think that it was a load of rubbish but
they are in fact becoming the focal point of my diet. I dont know about
anybody else but I think they make or break your physique and your mental
outlook on life. So, yeah, they're essential.
Sam - I dont know. I
eat a pretty healthy diet with nuts and seeds and things. I think they are
important to realise you should not eliminate them, but so long as you eat
pretty healthy you probably dont need lots of extra supplements.
John - I disagree
with that. I think fats are the first port of call for the human diet.
Carbs are not even essential for life. Fat is. Eat the right types.

| Question |
So
which product did you try out and what attracted you to that one?
|
| Answer |
Sam
- Well Im always trying to keep slim and build more muscle, without
gaining any bodyfat and Id heard about smart fats and fats that do clever
things, so I tried CLA. Its supposed to help build muscle tissue and burn
off fats. They use it in livestock for the same reason.
Brian - I was on the
Lipidex. The SAN product that has tried to cover all of the essential
basis of oils and EFA's and smart fats. Their's is a good thought out mix
from what Ive read into and its in a capsule format. I cant stand oils to
drink. urgh!
John - Hey you
should try mine. Udo's Oil. It tastes alright. And I was having about four
tablespoons a day. At first mixed in a protein but by the end of it off
the spoon. Either its got something addictive in it or my body started to
crave it because it was using it so well but I was desperate to get my
next dose down my neck.

| Question |
Tell
me about the ease of use taking them. A lot of people dont like
supplementing with oils because of the gram for gram quantity you need to
take for them to be noticeably effective.
|
| Answer |
John
- Yeah true I was drinking a lot of oil, but come on, there is no
excuse when it comes to your health though. And like I said I satrted to
crave the stuff and most people do who start using good oils - because
your brain is smarter than you - it knows what it needs. Same with animals
- they'll lick olive oil off a spoon too! and lap it up!
Sam - Had to take a
handful of capsules each day, but that was ok. You can take them all at
once at any time of day so you're not kept to any structured routine or
anything. Just get them in at some point of the day. No problem. No after
taste or regurgitation or anything like that like you get with cheap fish
oils.
Brian - Same here. I
just had a handful each day. Easy to just pop them all in my mouth at once
and swallow them.

| Question |
What
did the products do for you - any noticeable results immediately, or
within the month you were taking them?
|
| Answer |
Sam
- Actually yes. I was quite suprised. I definately lost a bit of
bodyfat and got more muscle tone. I was quite impressed. Not in the first
week but by the end of the fourth week. I think you would keep seeing
results if you kept taking them - so I think I will try them for a second
month.
Brian - Uhm. Not
sure exactly. I feel healthier. My hair is less greasy and my skin is not
as spotty. I feel more energetic too.
John - This stuff is
like miracle juice. I stopped smoking. I stopped drinking caffeine. Im
sleeping better. Concentrating better. Im just feeling on the whole like a
whole new person.
|
| Question |
Would
you use these products long term or for short periods of time?
|
| Answer |
Sam
- Id use them for dieting definately.
John - Long term.
You'll have to fight me to get it off me.
Brian - Yeah - I
think if I hadnt read the research on oils I probably wouldnt have paid
much attention to them. But now I think definately a long term staple in
my diet. I much prefer the capsules though. Dont think Ill be on the oil.
