Phosphates serve as a building block to our bodies energy source ATP. Using phosphates on low calorie diets may help improve energy levels and increase resting metabolism. This is possibly due to the way phosphates work with the metabolism of thyroid hormones. They also serve as a good lactic acid buffer, enabling the user to train harder without burning out. Often combined with creatine formulas to enhance their performance or in certain fat loss products.
