WHAT IS NARINGIN?
Naringin is a grapefruit flavanoid proported to extend the half life of
numerous other drugs, especially caffeine, thus prolonging its thermogenic
effect.
HOW EXACTLY DOES NARINGIN WORK?
Naringin is an inhinbitor of the cytochrome p450 liver enzymes. Of particular
interest, one of these enzymes (CYP1A2) is responsible for metabolizing
caffeine. Furthermore, some of these enzymes may also appear in the intestinal
lining, so naringin may alter the absoprtion of caffeine. In studies naringin
combined with caffeine has increased it's half life by 31% and decreased oral
clearance of caffeine by 23% meaning that it could substantially prolong the fat
burning effects of this compound.
APPLICABLE USES OF NARINGIN/COMBINING NARINGIN WITH EPHEDRINE
When ephedrine or an equivalent is used (often with caffeine) the body
releases a chemical called norepinephrine, a chemical messenger that signals the
release of epinephrine. These messengers attach to receptors which cause an
enzyme named adenylate cyclase to convert ATP into cAMP for energy. The effect
of cAMP can be greatly increased by using Naringin.
HOW MUCH SHOULD I USE AND WHEN?
An effective dose being 16 - 150 mg 2 - 3 times per day, usually with an
ephedrine/caffeine mix.
