What is Epimedium?
Epimedium, also known by it's more popular name Horny Goat Weed, is an herb used to naturally elevate testosterone levels in the male, as well as increase sexual appetite and performance. This ingredient has developed a very highly regarded reputation as being very effective at increasing muscle size, aggression, performance, improving sex drive and increasing testosterone level naturally and safely.

Epimedium is a genus of twenty-one related plant species, native to china and has been used as an ornamental herb in asia and the mediterranean regions. There are various species which include Epimedium sagittatum, Epimedium brevicornum, Epimedium wushanense, Epimedium koreanum, and Epimedium pubescens that have been used for medical purposes for hundreds of years.

The name Yin Yang Huo roughly translates as "licentious goat plant" and explains why supplement companies have adopted the name Horny Goat Weed.

What Are The Benefits of Epimedium?
Epimedium is a very impressive supplement for males looking for a boost to their training and muscle and size gains. Of course it is also used in conjuction wih training to improve and boost natural sexual confidence and to highten libido and increase sexual desire. This is ideal for those feeling the lows of a post steroid use crash.

Epimedium has also been shown to be used successfully in the treatment of kidney, joint, liver, and back disorders.

More About Epimedium
Known also as Epimedium or Yin Yang Huo, horny goat weed was first described in ancient Chinese medicinal texts. Legend has it that the name came from a herder who noticed his goats becoming more sexually active after eating the plant. And although this herb has now been used for over 2000 years, the exact science of how it works is still not entirely clear. However, the effects of the herb are still used, without the scientific preciseness, to increase sex drive, boost erectile function and of interesting noter - figth fatigue.

What the studies do highlight is that in animal studies, Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium) acts as an adaptogen (other adaptogens include cordyceps, rhodiola, ashwagandha, and ginseng), by elevating levels of epinephrine, serotonin (feel good hormone) and dopamine when levels of these are low. This increases energy levels and promotes feelings of well being. Equally this supplement also decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol when it is elevated. And on top of that Epimedium also acts to prevent adrenal exhaustion, while simultaneously boosting testosterone levels and thyroid levels in men and women. This combination effect has a very positive influence on the sex drive of both sexes.

Animal studies using epimedium have shown a reduction in bone breakdown, an increase in muscle mass, and a loss of body fat-each of which may be linked to the observed return of abnormal cortisol levels back to normal values (and rhythm). In a series of studies conducted in humans and animals by Chinese researchers, immune-system function was directly suppressed and bone loss was accelerated, by using high-dose synthetic cortisol (glucocorticoid drugs). Subsequent administration of epimedium extract reduced blood levels of cortisol and improved immune immune-system function (in the humans) and slowed bone loss and strengthened bones (in the animals).

Usage Indications
Take 500-750 milligrams of horny goat weed every day in 2-3 divided doses. The best products are those which are standardized to a flavonoid called icariin (10%).

It usually takes 3-5 days of supplementation with Horny Goat Weed before you'll notice an increase in aggression, libido and drive. To see and feel the gains in muscle strength and size takes a little longer, usually in the region of 11-15 days. Please note that some people may experience a strong increase in libido when using this product.

Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed) can of course be stacked with other testosterone enhancing supplements, especially in the male. These being such things as Bulgarian Tribulus and Zinc Monomethionine.
