WHAT IS A CYCLODEXTRIN?
Cyclodextrin complexes involve coating fat soluble compounds (namely pro
hormones) with a carbohydrate that supposedly makes the compound more soluble,
particularly in oral mucosa or membranes of the mouth. The idea for this type of
delivery is based on recent preliminary studies showing that this type of drug
delivery system mayallow a more efficient oral delivery system for testosterone,
therby obviating the need for testosterone injections.
Cyclodextrin technology is very difficult to get right and only a fraction
of manufacturers know truly what they are doing. Some ill- conceived
cyclodextrin processes tend to permit dissociation of the compound from the
