WHAT IS 5-HTP?
5-HTP is not a commonly found ingredient in britain these days. Released
after tryptophan was originally pulled from market shelves due to a faulty batch
once causing a number of deaths. 5-HTP offers a similar release of serotonin and
can be used a productive sleep enhancer, feel good nutrient and appears to have
a strong natural appetite suppressing effect.
MORE ABOUT 5-HTP
5-HTP acts as an intermediate in the conversion process of the amino acid
tryptophan to the neurotransmitter serotonin. Tryptophan is well known for it's
almost drug like effects, where it crosses the blood brain barrier and is
converted by 5-HTP directly into serotonin, which then causes a number of
reactions that make it easier for you to fall asleep.
5-HTP and it's USES
This compound has been studied for many functions and has been shown to
actually have a greater effect dosage by dosage than tryptophan in relieving
symptoms of depression. Depression is often caused by a lack of serotonin.
5-HTP DOSAGE AND WHEN?
In terms of a sleeping aid 5-HTP could be used at doses of around 200mg
around 30 - 60 minutes before retiring for bed.
In terms of fat loss this same dose can be divided up throughout the day into
three equal amounts morning, noon and evening. However when used as in a
combination fat loss product with other appetite suppressing compounds a lower
dose of around 25mg may be effective.
