100% Whey Protein Gold Standard: This is really good stuff, I ve noticed some good gains from this product. But coupled with that is the taste, I ve had strawberry and tropical and love them both. Strawberry tastes like a good strawberry milkshake and tropical tastes like sherbert, it is pretty sweet. Both flavours mix really well with minimal foaming, Would highly recommend this stuff. Question |
[Optimum] 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard: Is it possible to mix this with water or is it best taken with skimmed milk |
|
Answer |
Hi, mixing it with water is advisable as it has originally been filtered from milk / dairy. If you want extra calories, skimmed milk is an option, yes. |

Question |
[Optimum] 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard: I train of a morning and have tried taking EAS s Myoplex but its too thick and heavy on my stomach of a morning and makes me feel sick, i also have this optimum 100 whey which i was thinking of taking with milk for extra calories which i can easily drink and enjoy the taste. Is this o.k to take with milk because the tub recommends taking it with skimmed milk but ive read a lot of bad things about taking protein shakes mixed with milk, what would you suggest |
|
Answer |
Gra, we generally don't recommend mixing protein products with milk. Milk is a very cheap and low quality food stuff for most people due to the processing which results in a sticky, troublesome carb source.
If a Myoplex is just too much to eat for breakfast you can try using the Optimum whey as a milk replacement over oats or other quality slow release carb source. You can use just a small amount of oats if you want to limit the amount you eat first thing in the morning.
You can blend protein shakes with fruit, berries, small amounts of banana, oats, soya milk or perhaps even a little organic cream if you want a naturally thicker drink thats still thinner than a full myoplex.
The other option is to just use more water in the Myoplex and use only a half serving for breakfast. |

Question |
100% Whey Protein Gold Standard [Optimum]: Alot of people say your body can only use 40 grams of protein each meal and i was wanting to know if thats true |
|
Answer |
No Blake, there is no magical number at which your body ceases to absorb food, including protein. This is a complete and total myth. If your body simply stopped absorbing food above a certain amount we'd all be dead from eating slightly larger meals. What is true is that the amount of protein you need per meal will depend on your overall size and the level of anabolic hormones in your system, amongst other factors. Obviously a large bodybuilder using pro hormones will be able to eat and utilise much larger portions of protein than a small individual who doesn't train much. It's advisable to break your daily protein intake down into between 5 and 8 meals a day to maximise both digestion, limit fat storage and feed amino acids into the system in a controlled way but the actual amount of protein per meal will entirely depend on your size, daily intake needs and the amount of carbs and fats also making up your calorific requirements. |

| Bob |
Question |
Optimum 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard: Hi I weigh 75kg howmany scoops of this shake would i need to take per day |
|
Answer |
Bob it all depends on how much protein you are getting from whole food sources and what your goals are. Generally a good basic rule of thumb is to eat one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight every day for improved gains and overall health. Work out how much you are getting from whole food sources such as meat, poultry, fish, dairy etc and then make up the rest from protein supplements. |

Question |
Optimum 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard: hi all, just wondering i hate the taste of 90+ protien but love the taste of mamouth weight gainer, could you tell me how this compairs in taste to them both, or even how the reflex instant whey tastes compaired to these. i know everyones taste is different but just roughly on peoples coments. cheers guys. |
|
Answer |
Ash Mammoth will almost certainly taste more like a thicker sweeter milkshake given the carb content which is hard to replicate in a pure low carb protein. Optimum Whey and Instant Whey probably taste better than 90+ but as you say taste is very individual. The best tasting proteins tend to be those with a blend so that the micellar casein thickens it up. The Reflex Peptide Fusion, the Pro Peptide by CNP and Metabolic Drive by Biotest all get high ratings for taste from most people. If you don't mind a few carbs but still with a high protein content, the Muscle Milk offer very thick and milkshake tasting options. |
