TDM the eact metabolic cost of sweating has varied in a number of studies and depends greatly on gender, pre-activity exercise levels, baseline temperatures, dietary changes etc etc. It is generally quite a low measure however. In general the sauna-suits do not exact changes by burning direct calories from sweat - the biggest difference here is water excretion and temporary dehydration and reduction in subcutaneous water retention. Also further metabolic processes that take place alongside increased sweating promote a higher metabolic rate, including increased blood flow etc. |
