Question |
L-Glutamine: hi, is it alright to use glutamine and isa test together before workout and on non trainings days together before bedtime. thanks |
|
Answer |
Yes, this is fine. |
|
|
|
| Azz |
Question |
L-Glutamine [Reflex]: Can you mix L-Glutamine with a Casein shake as a good pre-bed shake |
|
Answer |
That sounds like an ideal mix for a slow release muscle sparing meal to use close to bed. Both work well together and enhance the other. If you've had a tough workout or are feeling ill with a cold or something you can add in a handful of BCAAs to improve it further but this isn't essential, just an extra layer of recovery and protection. |

| JPR |
Question |
L-Glutamine [Reflex]: I currently use Reflex instant whey 3-4 times a day, and I m also about to start a cycle of reflex creatine. Is it ok to take the L-Glutamine at the same time as these two products given that the instant whey already has a small amount of L-Glutamine in it Thanks. |
|
Answer |
That's fine JPR, you will find extra glutamine is very useful around training sessions, either before or after or even both if you are working extremely hard. L Glutamine becomes more essential during illness or when training on lower calories so you are fine to use larger amounts than found in whey alone. |

|
|
| Elliott |
Question |
L-Glutamine: Is it necessary to use this on non-training days if I just want to limit muscle breakdown |
|
Answer |
Elliott muscle growth and breakdown occurs every day, not just on training days. Glutamine has a huge range of beneficial effects and most users will find some glutamine supplementation helps prevent catabolism whatever cycle of training you are in. Many supplements contain extra glutamine now too though so it's worth checking what else you are using to see if you are getting some extra glutamine regularly anyway. Glutamine is also useful anytime you feel ill or are dieting when catabolism occurs very easily. |

Your Most Important Amino Acid The amino acid, Glutamine, has become
more prominent as new studies reveal its unique contribution to
protein synthesis (muscle growth), anti-proteolytic (prevents muscle
tissue breakdown) functions and growth hormone elevating effects.
Glutamine is the most abundant single amino acid in the blood and in
the intracellular free amino acid pool (most abundant amino acid in
muscle tissue). It comprises 61% of the amino acid pool in skeletal
muscle. Glutamine's unique structure, containing two nitrogen side
chains, consists of 19% nitrogen - making it the primary transporter
of nitrogen into the muscle cell. In fact, glutamine alone is
responsible for 35% of the nitrogen that gets into the muscle cell.
Glutamine literally drives muscle building nitrogen into the muscle
cell where it is synthesized for growth. Glutamine concentrations
fall markedly after training and remain low until complete recovery.
What this means is, the very rigours of weight training leak nitrogen
carrying glutamine from muscle tissue. This fall in glutamine is
catabolic to muscle tissue. Supplementing with glutamine spares free
glutamine in muscle tissue, counteracts the fall in muscle protein
synthesis, and improves nitrogen balance. Suggested use: Take 5 grams
before and after training, and another 5 grams before bedtime for
optimal results.
