Instant Whey: Well i have been on 90+ for 5 months then went onto mamouth for weight gain, after mamouth i couldnt stand the taste of 90+ and half way through a shake i just wanted to hoof my ring up, so i tried some samples of optimum which i liked then bodyactive said to try reflex instant whey, so i did and i love it. great taste and so easy to drink. if you dont like the taste of protein then i suggest this. i have the choc/orange and the choc. Instant Whey by Reflex: Vanilla Terrible taste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will try again because I had a reflex whey before with added colustrum (very expensive) and really liked it but it was strawberry. I hope Strawberry taste better. Stupid bag aswell glad I have a tub to empty it into. Is the Reflex with added colostrum still about want that one!!! A

Steve you can drink a little milk but you can get the majority of your calcium from vegetables especially things like broccolli which contain a more bio-available form of calcium than milk anyway. Yoghurts, not fat reduced but regular, natural yoghurt is raw and does not contain unsuitable carbs. Try not to use a yoghurt that has lots of added sugar in as this defeats the point.

[Reflex] Instant Whey: could i mix my morning shake with semi skimmed milk I have this shake with breakfast then train about two and a half hours later would a whey shake mixed with milk fuel my morning work out

Steve we generally don't recommend mixing protein with milk as milk is a rather poor quality protein and has a sticky allergenic carb source when pasteurised or UHT. Raw milk would be a different matter but unless you have a friendly local farmer it's illegal to sell. The only people where milk would be appropriate would be very slim hardgainers who need lots of calories and tolerate lactose products very well. In general too waiting two and a half hours between a liquid meal and training will mean you are already likely to be going catabolic with anything like hard training. You may benefit a lot more by having a shake about an hour before training in all honesty.

Instant Whey: i am on a diet, and do shift work, when i am on 2pm till 10 i come home and am starving could i use a serving of instant whey before bed and still lose weight also i have about a 10min bike home do i need to replace lost carbs at this time or will it make me gain weight would a small piece of fruit suffice

George if you primary intention is to lose body fat you are best limiting carbs especially as your body clock may be out of synch with shift work. However you should never become starving as this simply means muscle tissue will be eaten for fuel. You can and should aim to have a serving of protein or a small protein and veg based meal every two to three hours. If you starve yourself you will simply see fat loss slow down as your metabolism collapses and will eat up muscle, glycogen and other healthy tissues. By keeping protein intake high while limiting carbs you can stay full, keep muscle healthy but use up your body fat for fuel. You can also use healthy fats alongside Instant Whey and other meals to help give you a healthy source of fuel. Eating healthy fats does not increase body fat. You can still reload with carbs after resistance exercise and lose fat but at 10 minutes you may not need any carbs after the bike ride, especially close to sleeping. If you get hungry, eggs, cottage cheese, protein shakes, meat, poultry, green or leafy vegetables and light cheeses are great snacks that won't interfere with fat loss. Instant Whey: how does this compare to optimum 100 whey

John, they are quite similar, however the Reflex Instant whey uses less flavourings and additives. This means that the Optimum 100 whey is slightly thicker and more strongly sweetened which is common with U.S products versus British ones. They both have a similar protein profile. The Reflex tends to be cheaper here in the U.K because it is not subject to import costs. The main difference is flavour but the quality is virtually identical.

Instant Whey: Does Instannt Whey contain milk and soy protein I have been advised that 100 Whey Proteins are more easily absorbed and by the body and should be used ahead of proteins that contain milk and soy protein. Is it true thatt he likes of Dymatise protein might use 2 Whey and 98 soy and milk or is this nonsence the supplement distributor is telling me to try and make me purchase his protein (Scitec and Performance Nutrition.. - which you struggle to get anywhere on the net!)

OK, there is no truth in what is being purported there. That is like saying chicken protein will do nothing for you. Whey protein does have a lot of advantages for muscle building and the BV is very high. Instant Whey is a pure 100% Whey concentrate, no milk or soy protein. Essentially you should use whey as your fast acting protein, which is rapidly digested by the gut. In other words - take whey in water immediately post training and upon waking.
