Questions and Answers |

Question |
Pro-Recover [CNP]: is there enough protien in a serving of pro recover for post workout after an intense weights session |
|
Answer |
Jeff it depends on your size and goals to be honest. Most post workout drinks use around 20 to 25 grams of very fast absorbing proteins. Unlike regular protein shakes these get into the system almost immediately so they do act differently than normal protein shakes. This is often enough for most trainees in the immediate post workout environment but you may need to look at your overall totals to see what is best. Personally I use a recovery shake during and just after the workout and then have an extra protein shake with 40 to 60 grams of protein about 45 minutes later and this has given me outstanding results for the past few years. |

Question |
[CNP] Pro-Recover: Hi guys, I ve been using pro recover for a while but recently i ve been thinking about supplementing with BCAA. My question is what are the high levels of BCAA already in pro recover as i ll only supplement before my workouts if levels are high enough. |
|
Answer |
Chris CNP do not specify the exact amount of BCAA present in Pro Recover mentioning it only as part of the whey isolate and hydrosolate protein blend. We can assume this means you will get around 3 to 4 grams per serving from the ratios stated. Some coaches like Charles Poloquin recommend extremely large doses of BCAA before, during and after training for maximum effect, especially during dieting. Many of us at BodyActive aim for around 10 to 15 grams of BCAAs per workout spread between pre, during and post workout although this amount may be most suited to those on fat loss diets or beginning a new workout regime. BCAAs are a simple addition to any workout regime but they can make a major difference. |

Post-workout
adaptogenic/recovery formula Scientific research shows us that the period
immediately following training may be the most important time for potentiating
the results. This is the key time to intercept the result-limiting anticatabolic
processes initiated by your intense workouts. Yet, through inconvenience or
habit, many bodybuilders fail to take advantage of this critical window of
opportunity.
Post-workout nutrition is all about precision; too much protein and you will
induce metabolic acidosis, thereby blunting any anabolic response and elevating
catabolic hormones. If too "complex" a source of protein is used,
synthesis will not be fast enough to make the difference. Pro Recover is the
long-awaited response to this situation. Specific amounts of high glycemic
carbohydrates create the necessary insulin spike to deal with the catabolic
hormone, cortisol. Easily absorbed di and tripeptide amino acids combine to
maximize the anabolic drive process, rapidly restoring positive nitrogen
balance.
High concentrations of Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) replenish a
depleted amino acid pool and delay fatigue between regular bouts of exertion,
making this also the ideal product for the competition environment (e.g. track
and field, boxers, powerlifting, strongman, etc). Antioxidants act to limit the
muscle damage induced by post-workout free radicals. Finally, the adaptogenic
herbs Rhodiola rosea and Ginkgo biloba are included, commonly employed by soviet
coaches to lower the systemic stress of high training workloads in Olympic
athletes. Di and tripeptides for rapid delivery High in BCAAs High glycemic
carbs Eastern bloc adaptogens Antioxidants Great taste
