Whats Wrong With The World?
Well quite a bit of course I agree with you. But one of the most ridiculous and mysterious things in the world is this crazy phenomenon I have noticed. All the big fat people want to get thin and all the skinny ones want to be bigger and they probably wouldnt care if they were fatter at first if they could just prove that they were getting bigger! What is going on here? Why can some people just get huge and some not even push the eight stone barrier.

I trained a big fat guy once that had never been to a gym in his life or lifted a weight. He was a weakling yet his legs with awesomely muscled and were worthy of competition if he were able to diet away the small layer of fat over the grand thick muscles. Ive also trained a yound kid who weighed no more than nine stone who could do twenty reps with 200kg on the free squat. Yet he never progressed with his personal bodyweight.

Strength is the Key!
Scream the HIT crowd. Strength is the key to progress they say. And yes they are partially correct. We can all hear the ghostly echoes of the late Mike Mentzer enlightening us all to the fundamental and logical approach to HIT training. And we can all hear the uniformed chants of the other camps crying out for progressive overload in one of more of its forms. These are the keys to muscle growth. Anyone can gain muscle if they follow these training principles. Yes....and no. We never heard Mike Mentzer or even Pete Sisco neglect the magical influence of food as one of the deciding factors. Im not saying THE factor. Im saying one of the....factors. And strength is not the be all and end all of results. Even if you believe in multiple growth spurt progress. Strength is of course...only a stimulus. Not the deciding factor.

You can get as strong as you want my friend. If you are substandard about your diet, or feed poorly, I believe you and I will agree that the actual results seen in the real world are of course.....ZERO. And that is also a factor that must be placed into the equation.

When you have great and famous documented programs such as the ABCDE diet by Torbjorn Akerfeldt then you have to just stop and take note of someone else's point of view for just a few moments. Switch perceptions. Whats this? Ana anabolic diet? Yes. Over eat like a mad man for two weeks and then underfeed like a starving orphan for two weeks while severely cycling your protein intake. Crazy eh? Absolute nonesense. And still scientifically proven to build muscle and strength on those that even dont train. And why? Why - because your body and my body are full of these crazy little things called hormones. And hormones have a profound effect upon the body. Such as when you go through puberty and you change from a mouse into a man. And you get bigger, stronger, spottier and of course more muscled. And you didnt need twenty rep squats of deadlifts to bring about that profound change that lasts for life. Thus is the power of anabolic hormones.

And anabolic hormones are abundent within your body and mine. And how do we get a hold of them and utilise them for our evil muscle gaining desires? Well Doctor Barry Sear's - author of the famous diet The Zone, describes food as the most powerful drug at your disposal. Mr Udo would probably agree. And Mr Atkins has definately told us of the powerful negative and positive cellular damage/effect food has upon our bodies and brains.

Dont be a fool. Trianing is important. Food is important. It is as simple as that. And you want to gain weight. What are you doing at the moment? Going backward, going forward, staying the same. How do you know you are not gaining weight? Are you? Why not? Ask yourself.

Train For Size
No brainer. No-one is going to get anywhere on a high volume approach to exercise, frequent visits to the gym and marathon weights sessions with ant sized weights. No no no. Thats ridiculous. Mr Mentzer had his head well screwed on. Go to the gym and get stronger and dont come back till you are stronger and well rested. then get stronger again. It is really that simple on the stimulus side of things. And go away and be positive and think positive things and imagine huge muscles and imagery and self taught hypnosis-visualisation will help along the way of course. This is not hard. Just get in the gym and do it. That will help you to start gaining weight.

Get Over Yourself
Come on stop talking rubbish. Look at yourself and your diet. Look at it. Chips and sausage sandwhiches. A bowel of cereal. A few pints of larger. A packet of crisps and a chocolate bar. Nope. You aint gonna do it. Neither is rice cakes, tuna, jacket potatoes and salad. Nope. No no no. We've all done it and weve all been there. It doesnt work. Dont read the magazines to the letter. Nobody tells you the truth about there diet apart from my friend James and he's a genetic freak. And dont listen genetic freaks because what they do will not work for you. And besides, because they are genetic freaks the normal rules of the Universe dont apply to them, and they definately do live in another world - probably a nicer one though where people do gain weight by looking at an apple. OF course that is irrelevant to you and me.

We want to gain muscle and of course bodyweight. We want to stand on the scales and look down and see an extra stone of two on there, not a measely half a pound or something that barely registers. Now there has to come a time when you are entirely honest with yourself. When you actually add up what in reality you are really eating and see how many calories you are consuming from your protein and carbs. Just forget about fats for the moment. Just look at the protien and carb content of your diet and have an honest true good look. If you are consuming 4 - 5000 claories from your carbs and protein and not gaining weight then you need more. IF after you have stripped out the useless fat calories from your peanut butter sandwhich and pie diet and looked you will probably find that the reason youa re not gaining qulaity and substantial weight is that in actual fact....in this reality - not the one in your head where you think you are eating a lot - you are in fact eating nowhere near the magical 4000 calorie level of nutrient feeding anabolic hormone stimulating weigh gain calories. This is the key right here.

Get onto it. Get onto the solution. Eat more. Of course have you ever really looked at 5000 calories of carbs and proteins laid out as solid food before your very eyes? Ever seen that much solid food and calculated how much it would cost to buy that much solid food? Its a hell of a lot for a little human stomach to digest and actually spend physical time in a day eating and chewing. And unless you have rich parents and a great job - you probably couldnt afford to eat that way each day and would probably resent paying that much money anyway.
